The Genie’s Cave

One In Ten are pleased to announce the launch of The Genie’s Cave, our latest website design and management project.

Website Design

Trevor from Huntingdon Executive and Director Services and Robert, John and James from Globequest Limited approached us in 2014 to introduce their three property business in Grays, Essex to the digital world. Original entitled Bubbletronics (as per the name of the store), the project transformed into The Genie’s Cave during 2015.

The brief was to setup a site that could sell stock from the physical store (which is also undergoing a reorganisation), and to allow customers the chance to sign up to the store mailing list and stock newsletters.

At The Genie’s Cave they offer wide range of new and pre-owned collectablesdiecast models, construction kits, comics, football programmes, party supplies, model rail and a whole host of other interesting and unusual items.

Theme & Plugins

As per our other website design projects WordPress was the suitable design system chosen to run the site.

From the very outset we knew this project would require a premium theme, to enable us to easily update the site, but to ensure it remains flexible as the digital world changes. We opted for the X Theme from, as this offers full integration with our other chosen system – WooCommerce, which would control the online shop experience.  Packaged together with our hosting and management option this project falls under the Gold+ category for website design.

For the mailing list setup we installed MailChimp for WP and linked this with The Genie’s Cave MailChimp account.

The Genie’s Cave already had a relationship with Barclaycard, who have provided their merchant banking transaction system for many years in their physical stores. It was only natural that they wished to continue this relationship on the digital platforms. We utlised the Sellex WooCommerce Plugin, along with an SSL certificate from our hosting partner

The Final Project

The website was placed into testing mode behind a coming soon banner, so only our design team and the client were able to view the continuing work. Once the site was at a suitable stage it was opened for a set period to enable transaction testing.

The final website officially opened on Saturday 5th September 2015 at 10am. The first month of operations have been set aside for client training and to ensure the system is operating as per the original brief.
